For an authentic Hong Kong shopping and street food experience, you can visit the Ladies’ Market in Mong Kok. Also known as the Women’s Street, it is ranked at the top of most people’s bucket lists when visiting Hong Kong. However, do not be misled by its name. It actually offers a wide variety of products, bargains and souvenirs for everybody.

Ladies Market got its name because when this street was first opened, the stalls, shops and hawkers primarily catered to female customers and sold only fashion-related items such as clothes, accessories and handbags. However, this market is now more in line with our pasar malam in Singapore, where you can find cheap clothes for both men and women, as well as toys and electronic gadgets.

Also known as Sik Sik Tuen, it features a traditional Chinese temple style with three memorial archways. In the temple, you can find the Nine Dragon Wall and the Good Wish Garden, which are replicas of Beijing’s Nine Dragon Wall and the Summer Palace, respectively.

At the temple, dozens of fortune-telling booths are located in the southeast of the main complex. The most popular practice is kau cim (fortune stick drawing), where visitors can shake a bamboo cylinder until a numbered stick falls out and take it to a fortune teller for interpretation.
